Uncovering Original Paint With Oven Cleaner! This 1934 Ford 5 Window Gets Even Cooler!

Uncovering Original Paint With Oven Cleaner! This 1934 Ford 5 Window Gets Even Cooler!

I’m a fan of original paint and patina, but I hate the fake stuff. Sometimes the patina on a ride doesn’t look great because of a horrible repaint that makes the car look worse than it probably does underneath as well, and that’s what Matt was facing on his 1934 Ford 5 Window. It had received a brush on paint job that was doing it no favors, but he thought that there was original paint still hiding under it. After doing some testing, he got it figured out and is going to use oven cleaner to get down to the original paint and hopefully make this thing look a jillion times better than before.

Check out the video description below:

In the last video on the 1934 Ford 5 Window we briefly showed some of the original paint that we had started to uncover. Well after 40ish hours, Matt stripped 99% of tan paint that was brushed on back in the 1950s. Matt walks us through some tips and tricks to using Oven Cleaner to remove unwanted paint. While the paint is worn through in spots, we think it looks way nicer. Let us know down below what you think!!

An Electric Subaru Brat? Okay, This Is An Electric Vehicle Swap We Think Might Be Real Fun!

An Electric Subaru Brat? Okay, This Is An Electric Vehicle Swap We Think Might Be Real Fun!

The idea of taking a gas or diesel-powered car and making it electric intrigues me. I think it would be a fun project and have been thinking about a few different fun cars to do the conversion on. Of course, I have a jillion other projects going so there isn’t much need to be worrying about anything in the short term, but I certainly think it’s a fun idea and love checking out projects that other people are doing. So when James Fleischman at Flash Drive Motors sent me an email with a link to this Brat build I was intrigued.

Finding out that he’s located just outside of Austin, which is only a few hours drive from me, also made me want to go and play with electric cars so trust me that’s on the list of must-do things this summer.

But back to this project. This one is a Subaru Brat, you know, the little truck that came with the seats in the back. It was in really good shape, as it had been driven on the road up until 2017 but it still needed to get redone. Luckily, Flash Drive is all about restoring cars and not just making them electric. In fact, they will gladly work on your gasoline-powered ride, do EFI conversions, etc.

But I digress! Here are the first two videos in the Electric Brat conversion series, and we’ll have more tomorrow!

More Updates On Alex Taylor’s 6-Second ’55 Chevy Build: Her And Dennis Have Lots Of Updates, And A New Show She Just Filmed.

More Updates On Alex Taylor’s 6-Second ’55 Chevy Build: Her And Dennis Have Lots Of Updates, And A New Show She Just Filmed.

This is a really busy update episode for Alex and Dennis, as they have been burning the candle at both ends. Dennis has been at home thrashing on the ’55, while Alex was out shooting a new show for Motortrend. Of course, she had all kinds of drama getting to and from the Motortrend shoot and was feeling guilty about leaving when she did with so much left to do on the car. But when opportunity knocks you got to answer the door.

In this episode, there are a ton of updates on the ’55 as well as information about the show that Alex was shooting, along with a lot of other cool people. It should be a fun one to watch. Even though she was gone, a lot of work got done and the car is moving along. Building a car at this level, in this timeframe, is a task that most people wouldn’t be able to complete. But the Taylors aren’t the average hot rodding or racing family. There is more talent in their shop than you’ll find most anywhere else, and it is awesome to watch this one come together.

If you have been watching, stay tuned as there will be plenty more build episodes coming over the next few weeks. This thing is supposed to be racing in June! If you haven’t been watching until now, use the link below to watch whatever you’ve missed.
