Watch Hot Rod Drag Week 2021 HERE! Live Streaming Coverage Of Day 2 In Ohio!

Oh yes, Hot Rod Drag Week is back! With nearly 400 entries starting the crazy week of drag n’ drive competition, the first day had its fair share of oil downs and delays. Day two is when that stuff typically settles down as the field shrinks and the more well built iron forges ahead. David Freiburger is carrying the announcing duties by himself this year as I had commitments to NHRA which I needed to uphold during a rockin’ stretch of back to back to back to back races. He’ll be sounding like Louie Armstrong by Friday but he’s doing a heck of a job.

The drag nomads have moved their way onto Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwlk, Ohio for their second day of action! Watch the stream below. See the big runs, see the cringey runs, see potentially record breaking runs!

DIY Intake Manifold Testing: Can You Build Your Own Intake And Actually Make Power?

More Updates On Alex Taylor’s 6-Second ’55 Chevy Build: Her And Dennis Have Lots Of Updates, And A New Show She Just Filmed.

More Updates On Alex Taylor’s 6-Second ’55 Chevy Build: Her And Dennis Have Lots Of Updates, And A New Show She Just Filmed.

This is a really busy update episode for Alex and Dennis, as they have been burning the candle at both ends. Dennis has been at home thrashing on the ’55, while Alex was out shooting a new show for Motortrend. Of course, she had all kinds of drama getting to and from the Motortrend shoot and was feeling guilty about leaving when she did with so much left to do on the car. But when opportunity knocks you got to answer the door.

In this episode, there are a ton of updates on the ’55 as well as information about the show that Alex was shooting, along with a lot of other cool people. It should be a fun one to watch. Even though she was gone, a lot of work got done and the car is moving along. Building a car at this level, in this timeframe, is a task that most people wouldn’t be able to complete. But the Taylors aren’t the average hot rodding or racing family. There is more talent in their shop than you’ll find most anywhere else, and it is awesome to watch this one come together.

If you have been watching, stay tuned as there will be plenty more build episodes coming over the next few weeks. This thing is supposed to be racing in June! If you haven’t been watching until now, use the link below to watch whatever you’ve missed.

Car Hauler Rebuild And Remodel: Windows, Kitchen Design, And More! This Thing Is Going To Be Rad!

Car Hauler Rebuild And Remodel: Windows, Kitchen Design, And More! This Thing Is Going To Be Rad!

Everyone wants one of those big giant toterhomes with the huge stacker trailer and all the fancy stuff that goes along with it, but most of us have zero shot of actually being able to afford something like that. I know I’ve considered buying an older gooseneck car hauler with the intention of building a nice and efficient living space in it that would still allow me to haul a car or two to the races. Well Emily and Aaron are doing just that and if you have missed any of the previous episodes, just click the link below and you can watch from the beginning.

In this episode new parts are actually starting to go into the trailer including big new windows that will make the bedroom area super nice. There will be no doubts that everyone will be jealous of their cool digs at the races. In addition to the windows, there are also new parts coming in and the kitchen planning is turning into kitchen construction. This isn’t an ultra fancy build, but it will definitely be cool, comfy, and useful. They are putting lots of thought into how each element will be used and that’s cool to see.

When Last Minute Testing Your Burnout Truck For Cleetus And Cars, Sometimes Your Driveway Becomes The Burnout Pad

When Last Minute Testing Your Burnout Truck For Cleetus And Cars, Sometimes Your Driveway Becomes The Burnout Pad

Yep, James is no poser, that’s for sure. When under a time crunch to get their LS Swapped S10 Burnout truck, aka Burnie, ready for Cleetus and Cars Burnout Rivals in Indy, sometimes you have to piss off the neighbors. After stealing the trans out of his race car, and going through brake issues and a couple other snags, Burnie was back up and running with just hours to go before leaving for Indy. Of course there were a couple other snags and just an hour before it had to be on the trailer there was testing that needed going. After all, you got to know if there are vibrations, if the new torque converter is okay, and whether the brakes will hold for big time tire frying excitement or not.

Testing was in order and with no time to go anywhere else, the driveway became the burnout pad whether the neighbors liked it or not. Now I happen to know James’ neighborhood. I went there to pick up some tires he hooked me up with for the drive days on Rocky Mountain Race Week in 2019. It’s your average Colorado high desert neighborhood with family homes all around. This is not the country, and it is not remote. It is very close to town.

But the testing had to happen and the results were no vibrations, a tune that needs some tweaks, and brakes that need more bleeding to hold. But most importantly the smoke happened. And lots of it. Watch.

Street Racing Action From The Small Tire Short Notice KC Cash Days In Mexico

Street Racing Action From The Small Tire Short Notice KC Cash Days In Mexico

The Wyco Racing Small Tire Short Notice Cash Days event looked to have a very diverse group of racers ready to throw down on the street. The location was interesting as well, and in this great video from Urban Hillbilly Videos you’ll get to see all the action from start to finish. And like I said, there are some interesting cars at this one. Sure you are going to see Camaros and Mustangs and Novas oh my, but you are also going to see interesting imports, Mopars, trucks, and more. This is a cool video that is fun to watch. And the road? WTF are they thinking? This thing goes up and then down before a huge hill after the finish line. I guess it helps you slow down quick, but man it looks like a weird place to race.

FREE LIVE RACING – Footbrake Racers Are Getting It On! The Bigfoot $75,000 Footbrake Only Race Starts Today!

FREE LIVE RACING – Footbrake Racers Are Getting It On! The Bigfoot $75,000 Footbrake Only Race Starts Today!

We all know that big money bracket racing has gotten bigger, and richer, and more exciting over the past few years, but one of the coolest things is the embrace the racing community has given to bottom bulb racers in all this. Recognizing that bottom bulb racers who can cut a .00 light and run dead on at the stripe are arguably even more bad ass than someone doing so with a brake and a delay box, means that they deserve a place on the stage. More and more big money races are giving bottom bulb racers their own eliminations rounds until they get down to one, and some of their own shootouts as well. But within the bottom bulb big money bracket racing community is a special group. Footbrakers.

With no trans brake, anyone that can go .00 and run dead on the number swapping feet at the green is a bad ass in our book. Apparently the rest of the world agrees, because there are more and more footbrake classes and events being put on than ever. It gives bracket racers, and NHRA Stock and Super Stock racers, the chance to put on a show and go for big money.

This weekend’s Loose Rocker Promotions Bigfoot $75,000 race is for footbrake racers only. Not a trans brake in sight, and money starting to fly at just round 3. Oh, and if there are enough cars to make 10 rounds happen then the purse goes up to $100,000!

Watch all the action live right here!

Jasmine Salinas Walks Away From An INSANE A-Fuel Dragster Crash At The NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville Florida.

Jasmine Salinas Walks Away From An INSANE A-Fuel Dragster Crash At The NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville Florida.

This is one of the most insane dragster crashes we’ve ever seen, and thank God Jasmine Salinas walked away from it. NHRA referred to it as a blow over, but there was a lot more going on here than your “typical” dragster blow over. Jasmine, who finished qualifying in the number two spot in Top Alcohol Dragster, is clearly no slouch in this race car and it was working very well here in Gainesville. On this particular run, after leaving the starting line, you’ll see that the car does a pretty abrupt and big wheelstand which puts it hard on the wheelie bar. After pedaling the car to get the front end down, Salinas rolls back into the throttle to see what she can make out of the run. At this point she is not doing anything stupid. Not at all. This is NOT a case of someone continuing to drive the car when there was not reason. She simply rolled into the throttle again to see what she could salvage. Again, this is not uncommon to see what the car will do should this scenario happen during eliminations. Salinas was already at the top of the qualifying sheet, only to be surpassed by the very car in the other lane during this crash.

As Jasmine got back on the throttle and trucking along, and with the car fully hooked up and the clutch in full lock, the front end drove up in a big power wheelie that broke the wheelie back and let the car climb to the moon before there was anything she could do about it. Flying through the air straight up, and then straight down, over the span of the last half of the 1/4 mile track was scary enough, but she wasn’t even close to done with this wild ride. After landing on and over the wall, the car tumbled and flipped over and over again, coming apart before reaching the tree line past the finish line. With the car in complete shambles around her, Jasmine climbed out of the car on her own and was attended to by Safety Safari. She didn’t want to go to the hospital for evaluation, but the medical team insisted. She was back at the track later in the afternoon, and the video of that is below as well.

Big thanks to Sam Davidowicz for snagging great footage of this crazy one and sharing it with the world. We REALLY appreciate the angle. Thanks dude.

Long Lost Film Of ’66 Winternationals Found! Sunday Eliminations With Packed Pomona Grandstands!

(Film and Words by Darr Hawthorne ) In 1965 Santa brought me a new 16mm Bolex film camera, rather than using my dad’s cameras any-longer. The first opportunity I had to use it was on the Pomona Raceway starting line at the 1966 NHRA Winternationals, I’d been granted an NHRA photo/media credential with my best friend, at 14 years of age, lucky I know. It was my third time on the line at the Big Go West.

These ten minutes of original footage shows off some of the Top Fuel legends like the Greek, Don Prudhomme, Tom McEwen and Tony Nancy and event winner Mike Snively in Roland Leong’s Hawaiian. Leong recently said of the win, “Thats my wagon (at the end of the video). Must be 1966 and yes we won.” Leong added, “ After that we were on our way out of town going on tour to our first date and a ’55 Chevy towing a ’55 Chevy racecar side swiped a short bridge (while) passing us and then served into us. Wagon ended up upside down, trailer broke off and went about 1/4 mile into the desert. Both ’55 Chevy’s ended up upside down. Thankfully NO ONE got hurt.” Adding, “Thats my story and I’m sticking to it”.

1966 also presented a showcase to the early evolution from stock-bodied cars into nitro funny cars; Jack Chrisman’s red Comet, Gas Ronda’s Mustang, Maynard Rupp’s rear-engined Hemi-Powered Chevelle, Don Gay’s blown GTO, Steve Bovan’s altered wheelbase Nova, Joe Davis’ Colt 45 Mustang, Preston Honea’s Marlin and Bob Davis in the Jolly Green Giant Impala. These lumbering giants were relegated to the dragster classes, since NHRA had not yet recognized a true funny car class.

Along with them, was Super Stocker Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins in his ’66 Nova and event winner Shirley Shahan’s “Drag-on Lady” Plymouth Fury, the first woman to win a National Eliminator, at this Winternationals.

There’s Big John Mazmanian and Stone Woods & Cook with a bunch of AA/Gas Supercharged monsters as well as some early Modified and Comp Eliminator cars too, in front of the packed Pomona Raceway grandstands.

Grab a hot dog and a cold one for ten minutes in the Way Back machine for some long misplaced film from the ’66 Winternationals.

Watch The American Door Slammer Nationals LIVE Right Here!

Watch The American Door Slammer Nationals LIVE Right Here!

I’ve driven dragsters, but my first love are door cars. They are fun, can be as quick as you want to go, and they just feel right. I do like the occasional roadster as well, but prefer those with the driver on one side or the other instead of sitting in the middle like a funny car or altered. Good thing for me that the American Door Slammer Nationals are LIVE this weekend thanks to our friends at MotorManiaTV. Any door car. Any left hand drive roadster. Any reason to have fun. This is a must watch event that you won’t want to miss this weekend.

Held at the famed Piedmont Dragway, this Loose Rocker Promotions event is one of the highlights of 2020. During a year where we have all been cooped up and have had so many cancelled events, this is one of those that feels really good to see happening before we get into the final weekends of racing for 2020. This is going to be a year to remember for sure, and whoever wins this event is going to remember it because of the real money they got to put into their pocket.

Watch all the racing LIVE today and tomorrow right here. And thanks again to MotorManiaTV for sharing this great action with the world for FREE!

LIVE Big Money Bracket Racing For Juniors! The Summer Blast Race Is A Junior Dragsters Only Event With Big Money On The Line.

LIVE Big Money Bracket Racing For Juniors! The Summer Blast Race Is A Junior Dragsters Only Event With Big Money On The Line.

For the last few years people have been talking about putting on big money bracket races just for the Jr. Dragster crowd, and to answer that call is The Summer Blast race at Beaver Springs Dragway where Jr. Dragster racers will be going after $10,000! Can you imagine winning $10,000 at 10 years old? Or even at 15? Hell no, but these kids are going for it. We’re talking big stakes, killer reaction times, and family for for the weekend. It’s The Summer Blast and all the action is live right here thanks to our friends at MotorManiaTV. Watch all the action below, and don’t forget to like and share and subscibe and ring the bell and rub your belly and whatever else they tell you to do for YouTube videos!

What I love about this race is that there is nothing else going down the track that the Jr. Dragster drivers have to play second fiddle to. This is their chance to be the stars, outside of the Jr. Finals and those kinds of points races. This is all about them, the way it should be, and I imagine the energy there is intense and fun. I bet the parent crew chiefs are feeling the pressure today too!
