Factory Muscle Car Small-Block Shootout: 340 Six Pack, DZ302, 327, 350, Boss 302 and Boss 351! Which One Reigns Supreme On The Dyno?

Factory Muscle Car Small-Block Shootout: 340 Six Pack, DZ302, 327, 350, Boss 302 and Boss 351! Which One Reigns Supreme On The Dyno?

Richard Holdener is back at it and is putting on the ultimate small-block muscle car powerplant showdown. Whether you are a Ford guy, a Mopar guy, or a Chevrolet guy, there is an engine on this list that you think is the baddest small-block to ever come in a muscle car. This particular test was tailored to put the Mopar 340 Six-Pack against all comers. The 340 is one of those legendary engines that muscle car guys of all kinds respect, but that Mopar freaks adore and revere. So which one of these engines is going to reign supreme? Will the 340 throw the smackdown? Or will Ford or Chevrolet smack back?

Horsepower and torque matter here, and we all know that every one of these engines has the reputation for making gobs of both. They are all legendary, and everyone who ever drove one back in the day has romanticized them into something that transcends all logic. If you believe everyone that drove one in the late 60’s and early 70’s, these engines all made enough power to run in the 11’s in the quarter, with the wheels up, and could walk away from every single import every made. They are wrong, but that’s okay because these engines are sexy and I love them and so should you.
